| You know me, so you know what to expect: a mish mash of miscellaneous info
Yes this entry will have strong under overtones of whiny-ness in it. I apologize in advance. Good stuff first. I had a great time on Friday night on my double date with Nora, Dave, and Adrian. We went bowling. I kicked ass! It was only five pin bowling but I still showed them how it was done. Okay, I didn't win by quite that much but I won! Yay me. Adrian paid for bowling automatically, which was a very gentlemanly thing to do. It took under an hour (the alley was closing so we couldn't stay) but since the boys were still wiling, we headed off to Le Skratch for some pool. My pool playing skills leave much to be desired but luckily my partners rocked. We had a good time and were there for a bit. Then, getting hungry and thinking the food prices at Le Skratch a bit steep, we headed to Denny's. Conversation and too much food on my part followed (mmm...french toast, eggs, bacon and sausage--2 of each item) and some hot chocolate. There was some mild flirting going on by two of the foursome (no, I had no part in it) which was amusing to observe. I'm the eternal observer of people and relationships so I quite enjoyed the opportunity. Dave paid for us all! They both insisted. How polite! I was very impressed. Nora, just coming back from Egypt was more used to it so she took it with her usual grace and elegance. Well, not elegance or grace, exactly but whatever. I'm not really making much sense here. All I want to say is they were uberly polite and I felt uberly special and country boys are not that bad at all (though of course I never thought they were). Oh, and it wasn't really a double date so that doesn't explain why they paid. It's all about treating women like gold. I like that. ••••••• Note to self: Must learn to take compliments gracefully. I'm an utter clod when it comes to accepting well-meant compliments. My stupid seminar write up isn't going as speedily as I expected. I think I'm only about 214% responsible for this fact. I must, must get myself on track. Don't the words "Graduate in April of 2004" get me excited???? Don't I want to sneer in the face of my prof and mutter under my breath "Take that! I can dazzle you with my knowledge of biochemistry!" No, of course I don't. Oh! My mom's pre-op appointment is on Monday (the surgery is Feb 18). Please pray for her and our family as we go through this. We're all a bunch of chickens. She's the strong one in the family and I know she's going to go nuts trying to be strong for the remaining 5 of us. We need to be there for her. We need her, selfish family that we are.
PS To all who read me with regularity, I thank you very much. I hope something in my entries makes you laugh at least on occasion, or mutter gratefully "Thank God I'm not her! What a flake!".
